Here is a short read from one our riders.
A few lessons I learned on my journey to learn Wing Foiling.

If you are looking for real instruction take a lesson.
If you want to do it yourself, this is what I did.

I taught myself with the Duotone Wing Academy App, YouTube, and some words of wisdom from the older wingers in the car park.

"Don't pack your kiteboarding gear anymore.

You are learning to wing now."

-wisdom from the guy in the car park

Compared to kiteboarding, not dealing with lines is great - no launch space, no problem!

Wings take less time to pump. You still have to build and breakdown a foil and board unless you have a van or truck that allows you to keep it assembled. Getting in and out of the water in the beginning is tricky. Nothing but experience will get you through this. YouTube is your friend.

Have you ever tried to hold a wild eagle while trying to climb on a small raft in the middle of the ocean during a hurricane? This time I used Duotone Wing Academy App on how to properly mount your board while holding a wing as well as basic sailing skills for wing starts. Trust me-unless you come from windsurfing background- start with a bigger board.

After consistently being able to stand comfortably with the wing- it's time to attempt a first flight. At this point I really am just going through the motions. Stand up flap, hop and curse. I have a high aspect foil which is good if it's windy or you have technique. I learn later that a larger mid aspect foil would have helped me progress faster but eventually it clicks and I get on foil. AMAZING

When I started, I followed the guy in the car park's advice and left all my kiteboarding gear at home. I went out almost everyday in every kind of wind for a month no matter what. Although I was beat and exhausted after every session, I was happy. Every session I learned something. Then one day it clicks. And once it clicks - it's on.

"It's pretty simple- You just do it till you get it."
